These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ToneProof website, pilot tools, and related services (“Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Pilot / beta status

ToneProof is currently operating as a pilot / beta. Features may change, break, or be removed at any time. The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, without warranties of any kind.

2. No legal, appraisal, or insurance use

ToneProof results (including similarity scores, match outcomes, wood-grain signatures, and registry entries) are experimental and for informational purposes only.

You agree not to rely on ToneProof for:

• legal disputes or litigation,
• insurance claims or coverage decisions,
• formal authentication or certification,
• instrument valuation or appraisals.

3. Your responsibilities

You agree that you will:

• Only upload photos you are authorized to use.
• Not upload unlawful, offensive, or harmful content.
• Not attempt to attack, overload, or disrupt the Service.
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer ToneProof algorithms or signatures in violation of applicable law.
• Not misrepresent instrument ownership or pilot status.

4. Ownership and license to use your content

You retain ownership of the images and information you upload. By submitting content to the Service, you grant ToneProof a limited license to:

• store and process your images and data,
• derive wood-grain signatures, quality metrics, and related features,
• display results to you within the pilot products,
• use the data internally to test and improve ToneProof.

ToneProof will not sell your images or license them to third parties as a standalone product.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ToneProof and its owners, employees, and contractors are not liable for:

• any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages,
• data loss or corruption,
• errors or inaccuracies in match or verify results,
• any decisions you make based on ToneProof outputs,
• service interruptions, outages, or bugs.

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Service is to stop using it and request deletion of your data.

6. Suspension or termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if we believe your use:

• violates these Terms,
• poses security or integrity risks,
• constitutes abuse or misuse of the pilot.

7. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms over time. If we make material changes to the Terms, we may post an updated version on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
